Brooklyn Yard: No More (boo hoo)

One of new York’s coolest outdoor venues the Brooklyn Yard in Carrol Gardens has closed its doors and will not be hosting anymore parties. Meanred’s Jen Lyon headed up an array of amazing events at the outdoor space on the Gowanus Canal, but parties such as Sunday Best and many more will have to find new locations. Check out the official statement at MeanRed productions. We are sad.

GOOD VIBRATIONS: U STREET MUSIC HALL

Around two months ago, Plant fam Jesse Tittsworth and Will Eastman opened their club U Street Music Hall, and it has been nothing short of a complete success.  The place looks fantastic, the talent lineup, curated by Jesse and Will, is a music-lover’s dream, the dj booth is just how djs would have designed it (spacious with all of the technological flexibility needed) and the sound system is MONSTROUS.  It’s the kind of place I wish existed in New York City, where clubs invariably are missing at least one piece of the equation: great place, awful sound; great crowd, shite dj booth, etc… Not at U Haul.  Luckily, DC isn’t so far.

Check out these wacky science experiments that demonstrate just how robust U Haul’s the sound system is:

Tittsworth killin it.

Our friends over at Turntable Lab just posted random sale stats and we were happy to see Plant Music DJ, Tittsworth, made the list with his Serato Control Vinyl 12″ of “Here He Comes”, clocking in at 712 sales at TTL’s online store before selling out officially nationwide.

Congrats Jesse!
