Eli Escobar‘s Love Thing EP featuring Amanda Blank dropped on Beatport Exclusive this week and we are super excited about it. Check out the Discobelle post and what a few of the DJs we leaked it to are saying about it.
“We’ve been playing “Love Thing, Part 2″ – “I Cant Get You Off My Mind” – for months now. don’t sleep!” -Holy Ghost (DFA)
“Upper level boogie music, really enjoying this. Modern and soulful. Support from me” – Sinden (Grizzly)
“Amazing! Good old jackin’ music. Kevin Saunderson is vogueing!” – Armand Van Helden
“We particularly like Part 1. It’s a stone groove!” – Classixx (Kitsune)
“That Mehdi remix is killing me!!!” – Busy P (Ed Banger)
“Eli’s EP Kills! I love the Dj Medhi Remix!” – Brodinski
“This is a sweet jam! Part 3 is my favorite, both versions.” – Teki Latex (Sound Pellegrino)
“I like DJ Mehdi’s edit a lot. Sounds Phat. Soooo 90′s…” – MUNK (Gomma)
“Eli kills it as usual! A great pastiche of classic NYC club sounds, from the Garage, Funhouse, to Sound Factory Bar that still sounds fresh, original and totally contemporary. All the mixes are great, but I’m especially feeling Part 1 & 4, and Mehdi’s mix is wicked.” – Prince Language (The No Comprendo)
“Really, really, love “Love Thing, Part 1″. It feels like a throwback to early Kerri Chandler records to me but with more NYC attitude. I really like the dub of Part 3 with Amanda Blank too.” – Nacho Lovers (Fool’s Gold)
“Loving this big time. Gonna play the Mehdi out for sure!!” – Jaimie Fanatic (Mad Decent, Legacy Kids Klub)
“Folks, it doesn’t get classier than this. “Love Thing Part 3: Only You” features the inimitable Amanda Blank, who refreshingly trades in her tough-girl bravado and unleashes her inner songstress. This is a more mature, revealing and sensitive Amanda, quite different from the dirty (and equally loved) Blank most of us know through her collaborations with Spank Rock and her own album from last year (“I Love You”) which was produced by Diplo, Switch, XXXchange, as well as Eli Escobar. Through their collaboration on her album, Eli and Amanda developed a close friendship. Ironically, even though only two of the the six songs they made together (“Gimme What You Got” and “Big Heavy”) ended up on her album, they continue to collaborate, bringing each other into new musical territory. “Love Thing” is the first of what hopefully will be several future releases by the pair.”
These guys are not to be missed. Smalltown DJs have been killing dance floors it for a while but with the addition of the amazing Wax Romeo, the trio make magic.
